Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most streaming music of that period within the space of six months. In 2017, the song Despacito which was a mix of pop music with reggaeton has not just brought fresh focus to reggaeton, but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. The popularity of Despacito was at its highest in the year 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs will make the Top 100. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together on MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna joined forces with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. In 2020, several Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of their genre to the mainstream. However, a younger generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted procedure.
